I Think I Can
If you think you are beaten you are;
If you think you dare not, you don't;
If you want to win but think you can't,
It's almost a cinch you won't.
If you think you'll lose you're lost;
For out of the world we find
Success begins with a fellow's will;
It's all in a state of mind.
Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger and faster man,
But sooner or later the woman who wins
Is the woman who thinks she can.
Poem courtesy of my friend Aisha. It gives me courage! Well, I started graduate school at the end of August, and my program is great--I love my professors, classes, and classmates. It's wonderful to be back in school; I've missed it (yes, I'm proud to be a nerd). Jardan's living in LA for the semester, until the end of December. He's working to get a hospital switched from the old facility to the new. He enjoys the work--new set of skills and a lot more interaction with people (versus computers). It's hard being apart (we only see each other on Sundays), but I suppose we're learning a new set of communication skills! I'm also learning that everything is relative, and that finding joy is TOTALLY optional: it's always there if you look for it, but you can also just choose to ignore it. So, we're having fun trying to navigate this strange place we're in, but now that I think about it, I guess Jardan's always loved to be "lost" (he purposely gets lost--thinks it's an adventure, so metaphorically speaking he should love this!)!
